China Coal Mine Explosion: At least 10 people died in an accident at a coal mine in China’s Henan province on Friday. Meanwhile, six others went missing. According to CCTV report, the accident occurred at 2:55 pm (12:25 pm Indian time) on Friday in a coal mine located in Pingdingshan city of Henan province in central China. Local authorities have started all efforts to search and rescue the missing persons. A committee has been formed to investigate the causes of the accident.
Police took those responsible into custody
According to the report of Global Times, a Chinese mouthpiece, preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident was caused by the explosion of coal and gas in the outer part of the intake airway. The people in charge of the operation of the coal mine have been taken into custody by the police. Henan Governor Wang Kai and Acting Vice Governor Sun Saogang are keeping an eye on this incident. State news agency Xinhua revealed that 425 people were working underground at the time of the explosion.

According to the report, the Ministry of Emergency Management immediately deployed a group to the incident site, which is still engaged in work. However, at present no information has been received about the missing people. Mine accidents are common in China, but the number of deaths has declined in recent years. China is the largest producer and user of coal.
Official figures for 2022 showed that there were 245 deaths in 168 mining accidents in China. At the same time, at least 12 people died in an accident in a coal mine in China’s Heilongjiang province. At the same time, 13 people were injured.
