Maharashtra MLC Election 2024: BJP has announced the names of five candidates for the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra. Pankaja Munde’s name is included in this list. Pankaja Munde has contested from Beed Lok Sabha Elections She contested and lost. After Munde, BJP has nominated Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Phuke, Amit Gorkhe and Sadabhau Khot.
This year, elections will be held for 11 seats of the Legislative Council in Maharashtra. Voting for these seats will be held on July 12. The results will also be declared on the same day.
Pankaja Munde was defeated in the Lok Sabha
Pankaja Munde is a prominent OBC face. She lost the Lok Sabha election from Beed by a narrow margin of 6,000 votes.
Based on its numbers in the state assembly, the BJP has a quota of seven seats in these elections. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has a quota of about three seats. The average quota required for each MLC seat this time is 23.
It is generally believed that there was a major polarisation on caste lines between the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Maratha communities in many constituencies of the Marathwada region due to the issue of Maratha reservation demand and agitation. Danve also lost the Lok Sabha election.
Now the BJP wants to rehabilitate these two leaders by giving them a seat in the state Legislative Council. Which means that they can be included in the state cabinet in future. This is a signal to the OBC community (in the case of Pankaja) as well as the Maratha community (in the case of Raosaheb Danve) that they can get representation in the future state cabinet if the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance returns to power.
