Veg Thali Inflation: Vegetarians have also been hit by inflation in the month of June. Due to the rise in the prices of onion, tomato and potato, the average price of Veg Thali has seen a jump of 10 percent in June 2024. Whereas in the same period, non-vegetarian food eaters have got relief because due to the decrease in the prices of broiler, non-veg thali has become cheaper.
Veg thali is expensive but non veg thali is cheap
Rating agency Crisil has released its Roti Rice Rate Index report for June 2024. According to the report, veg thali has become 10 percent expensive in the month of June. The average price of veg thali has increased by 10 percent to Rs 29.4, which was Rs 26.7 in June 2023 last year. Veg thali has also become expensive in the month of June as compared to May 2024. The average price of veg thali in May was Rs 27.8.
Tomatoes, potatoes and onions spoiled the budget
According to the rating agency, the main reason for the increase in the price of veg thali is the 30 percent increase in the price of tomatoes. There has also been a 59 percent increase in the price of potatoes and 46 percent increase in the price of onions, due to which the veg thali has become expensive. According to the report, the arrival of onions has decreased, unseasonal rains have reduced the production of potatoes, while the tomato crop has been damaged due to high temperature, due to which the arrival has decreased. Due to this, the prices of these vegetables have increased. There has also been a 13 percent increase in the price of rice, while the price of pulses has increased by 22 percent. The vegetarian thali contains roti, vegetables (onion, tomato and potato), rice, pulses, curd and salad.
Non-veg thali became cheaper
According to the report of Crisil, the average price of non-veg thali has come down to Rs 58 in June 2024, which was Rs 60.5 in June last year. However, non-veg thali has become expensive as compared to May 2024. The average price of non-veg thali was Rs 55.9 in May. According to the report, the price of broiler has come down by 14 percent due to which non-veg thali has become cheaper.
