Stock Market Closing On 5 July 2024: After a lot of upheaval throughout the day, the major indexes of the Indian stock market, Sensex and Nifty, closed flat in the last trading session of the week. But in today’s session, strong buying was seen in energy, FMCG and pharma stocks. Investors also bought heavily in midcap and smallcap stocks, due to which the Nifty midcap index crossed 57000 for the first time. Nifty’s smallcap index also reached a lifetime high. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed with a fall of 72 points at 79,977 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed with a rise of 12 points at 24,314 points.
Market cap at all-time high
In the Indian stock market, the market cap has reached close to Rs 450 lakh crore due to buying in midcap, smallcap and energy FMCG stocks. According to BSE data, the market capitalization of listed stocks closed at Rs 449.82 lakh crore, which was Rs 447.30 lakh crore in the previous session. That is, in today’s session, the market value has seen an increase of Rs 2.52 lakh crore.
