NITI Aayog’s discussion paper on Multidimensional Poverty in India since 2005-06 highlighted the steps taken by the government to reduce multidimensional poverty in the country between 2013-14 and 2022-23. He has given credit for this to the steps taken. According to the report, multidimensional poverty in India was 29.17 percent in 2013-14, which has reduced to 11.28 percent in 2022-23, i.e. it has decreased by 17.89 percentage points in the last 9 years.
According to this report, Uttar Pradesh has been successful in bringing maximum number of people out of multidimensional poverty. In Uttar Pradesh, 5.94 crore people have succeeded in coming out of multidimensional poverty in the last 9 years. After this is Bihar’s number. 3.77 crore people in Bihar, 2.30 crore in Madhya Pradesh and 1.87 crore in Rajasthan have come out of multidimensional poverty. According to the report, poverty has reduced at a very fast pace in poor states, which has led to reduction in economic inequality.
NITI Aayog said in its report that between 2015-16 and 2019-21, people have succeeded in coming out of poverty at a rapid pace of 10.66 percent annually. Whereas from 2005-06 to 2015-16, people came out of poverty at an annual rate of 7.69 percent.
According to the report, it was found that all 12 indicators of multidimensional poverty have improved significantly between 2013-14 and 2022-23. Due to the steps taken by the government, 24.82 crore people have been brought out of multidimensional poverty. Due to this, India will achieve the SDG target (Sustainable Development Goals) even before 2030.

These include nutrition, child and adolescent mortality, maternal health, years of schooling, school attendance, cooking gas, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, housing, assets and bank accounts.
