- Europe’s imposition of high tariffs on China-made electric cars has forced Chinese electric car makers to reconsider their plans.
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng said on Thursday it is assessing the feasibility of setting up manufacturing capacity in Europe following the European Commission’s move to impose preliminary tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles.
“All existing consumers awaiting delivery and prospective customers who placed orders before the new tariff comes into effect will be protected from any price increase,” the company said.
“We are committed to proactively maintaining competitiveness in the marketplace while minimising any potential impact on our current and future customers,” he added.
