2024 Hyundai Creta Live Updates: Creta in numbers
Around 9.80 lakh Hyundai Creta units have been sold in the Indian market since 2015. Last year, Hyundai managed to sell around 13,000 units of the Creta every month, ending the calendar year with a pending order bank of around 25,000 units. Considering that the facelift version has been around for a while, these are some seriously impressive numbers.
Color options on Creta vs Creta 2024
The 2024 Hyundai Creta is set to come in six single-tone color options as well as one dual-tone shade. Among these, the robust Emerald Pearl is completely new. Additionally, while some shades like Galaxy Blue will be discontinued on the latest models, some other colors have received changes.

Hyundai’s current India model lineup
Currently, Hyundai’s product lineup has changed since the Creta was first launched. In 2015, the Santro was the smallest car money can buy from Hyundai and was still performing well. The Santro has now been removed from sale and it is the Grand i10 Nios which is the smallest Hyundai in India. Then more expensive Hyundai models like the Elantra executive sedan and Santa Fe SUV are also out of India. The family consists of the Venue (first launched in May 2019), Aura sedan (launched in January 2020), Kona EV (launched in July 2019), Ioniq 5 EV (launched in January 2023) and Exeter (launched in June 2023). Cars like Verna and Tucson remain intact, while Creta remains the champion in the family.
Have you ever wondered what ‘Creta’ means?
Hyundai models have names that take you on a trip around the world. Be it Tucson (city of America), Kona (western district of Hawaii) or Santa Fe (city of New Mexico). Thus, the name ‘Creta’ is also a tribute to the islands of Crete in Greece. Of course, the car is not known by this name everywhere – in China it is sold as the iX25. And this could be either due to marketing strategy or name trademark-related issues.
2024 Hyundai Creta live updates: The journey so far
The first generation Creta was launched in India in 2015. This was the time when the Renault Duster ruled the segment and was praised for its sturdy build and solid drive credentials. But here was a model from the Koreans that immediately struck a chord with potential buyers due to its attractive styling, roomy styling and relatively generous feature list. The petrol motor was reliable and the diesel unit had plenty of pep. Having an automatic transmission version also helped. The first generation Creta was a big hit which helped the facelifted model launched in 2018 boost sales numbers. Then 2020 brought the second generation Creta, complete with a far more rounded exterior design language. The change from sharp lines to a rounded design approach may have divided opinions, but it did not diminish the model’s popularity. And now it’s time for the 2024 Hyundai Creta to potentially extend its dominance in the segment
